Siegelman

....
And while the DOJ is making a point to review Republican cases, not
one Democrat case has been completely overturned. Aside from
alleged governmental misconduct in the Siegelman case, there are
paramount legal issues that have been recognized by 91 former State
Attorneys General and a group of First Amendment law professors
across the country. Both groups insist no crimes have been
committed and the former AG's signed a petition for "Writ of Certiori"
to the US Court of Appeals, urging Siegelman's case to be heard. The
petition argues:

"a public official may not be prosecuted for the receipt of a campaign
contribution in the absence of an explicit quid pro quo connection
between the campaign contribution and an official act."

Lawyers Rake In Almost $28 million in Fees
On Scrushy Case
by  Roger Shuler of Legal Schnauzer

The Village Voice recently ran an article knocking ABC's Nightline for
producing a "puff piece" on former HealthSouth CEO Richard
Scrushy, the codefendant in the prosecution of former Alabama
Governor Don Siegelman.

Birmingham attorney Doug Jones joined in the fun, helping the Voice
trash Scrushy and his family, while harrumphing about the evils of
fraud.

That's ironic because, according to court records, Doug Jones can
count almost 28 million reasons to be thankful for Richard Scrushy.
Court records also show that Jones has a mixed record on fighting
fraud--becoming a self-righteous crusader in some cases, while
conveniently ignoring other cases.
