Journalists - Eddie Curran
Some claim that events and information that became the basis for
many of the state's charges against Siegelman were first reported
by Eddie Curran.

Eddie Curran is employed by the Mobile Register which serves the
counties of Baldwin and Mobile. Baldwin county is the location of the
computer glitch that altered the vote count resulting in Riley
"winning" the office of Governor of Alabama. He is currently taking
an unpaid leave of absence from the Register to write a book about
the Siegelman case. He also wrote a series of editorials (unpaid)
concurrent with the airing of the '60 Minutes' expose debunking the
show and its interviewees. [1] Eddie Curran's articles have told only
one side of the story when it comes to hyping the Siegelman case;
and as you can see by the list of articles below, Eddie Curran
aggressively hounded and hammered Siegelman at every turn.
In contrast, a roaring silence surrounds the Abramoff/Casino/Riley
relationship, the mysterious circumstances of the after-midnight
"recount" that gave Riley the election in 2002, or the unprecedented
no-bid contracts awarded by Riley's office.
The Mobile Press Register, which often has a Mississippi Casino
banner ad at the top of its web site, actually accused Siegelman of
"attempt[ing] to choreograph and manipulate news
coverage...causing irreparable harm...". These articles, which make
Alabama politics so entertaining to the rest of the country and the
world sound like "Saturday Night Live" scripts.[2]
In February, 2008, concurrent with the airing of a CBS "60 Minutes"
expose favorable to Siegelman, Curran began a series of articles
defending his earlier work and "debunking" the CBS "60 Minutes"
report and its sources in the Montgomery Independent. He wrote the
articles, he claimed, free of charge and the Independent put his
editorials on page one of their Saturday paper.
The Investigative Reporters and Editors organization and the
Alabama Press Association have honored Curran for his work.

Eddie Curran - Articles about Don Siegelman
Eddie Curran is an investigative reporter for the Mobile Press Register.
In 2001, Mobile Press-Register reporter Eddie Curran began a
series of investigative stories focusing on the Siegelman Governor's
Office. The stories were credited by some (for example Leura
Canary's assistant Franklin) with resulting in a joint state and federal
investigation that on June 29 resulted in convictions against former
Gov. Don Siegelman.
