Sarcasm: Justice in Bama

Bonner claims that Governor Siegelman was no different than any
other Governor he had worked with or against. However,
inconsistencies between sentencing of Democrats and Republicans
are troubling. When comparing Alabama to other parts of America,
Governor Siegelman was given 88 months (7 years, 4 months), while
super crook, Jack Abramoff, only received six years.

Judge Fuller: A Siegelman Grudge Match?

When Fuller left the office of Attorney General, his replacement was
Gary McAliley, considered by some to be Fuller's “nemesis.”
Appointed by Governor Don Siegelman, he started a second audit
and began to investigate Fuller for salary spiking. The McAliley audit
concluded that Fuller allowed his chief investigator Bruce DeVane an
extra $70,000 in 2000-–close to twice DeVane’s annual 1999 salary.
In the RSA’s newsletter, The Advisor for August 2007,described the
case as Bonner remembers it:
In 2002, in the wake of the audit, Fuller simply said that the criticism
of him was “politically motivated.”
Given that, ask yourself: why would Fuller, a man with very good
reason to have a grudge against Siegelman’s entire operation, not
recuse himself from judging Siegelman?

Dueling Web sites push case for, against
Siegelman

The www.truthaboutdon.com Web site, a new one that apparently
popped up over the weekend and which hides its ownership*, seeks
to defend the view that Siegelman was properly charged with felonies
and convicted in federal court last year in Montgomery. It was
registered on July [2]4 through the anonymous domain-name
company Domains by Proxy Inc. in Scottsdale Ariz.
Anne Permaloff, an Auburn University Montgomery political science
professor, said she believes the Internet is taking the place of the
traditional media especially for younger voters. “Younger voters don’t
recognize the difference between factual material and opinion
material, and the blogs blur those,” Permaloff said. “In a way, what
they’re describing maybe is replacing the old rumor mill network that
has been part of Alabama for so much time.”

RSA had to go through the entire state court system to prevent
Judge Fuller’s buddy from ripping off the RSA. Shortly
thereafter, Judge Fuller tried to sandbag the RSA by
preventing our claim (by doing nothing) against the ultimate
crook–Enron! Fortunately, the RSA prevailed on both issues.
