Bill Canary is a King-maker who hails from New York State ( thus
his nick-name "the carpet-bagger"). Karl Rove and Bill Canary
became pals during Canary’s days at the White House in the
80's. His connection to the Siegelman case became apparent
when the Simpson affidavit claimed he assured Rob Riley that
"his girls would take care of Siegelman."

Toby Roth served Alabama Governor Bob Riley as chief of staff,
the culmination of a very long engagement in Alabama GOP
politics. Toby Roth along with William Canary and Karl Rove
drove the transformational 1994 campaign to convert the
Democratically held Alabama court to a Republican held court.
Roth is also one of an entire platoon* of Riley staffers who
departed in order to take up work for Indian gaming interests.

lawyer for Bob Riley, was one of several lawyers who also
represented Scrushy last year. Simpson swore that Butts was
party to the conference call discussing how to "take care of"
Siegelman. She believed that Terry Butts had a conflict of
interest in representing Scrushy and prevented Scrushy from
