    Bill Canary
Republican King Maker and Riley Advisor/Strategist

Bill Canary is a King-maker who hails from New York State ( thus
his nick-name "the carpet-bagger"). Karl Rove and Bill Canary
became pals during Canary’s days at the White House in the
80's. His connection to the Siegelman case became apparent
when the Simpson affidavit claimed he assured Rob Riley that
"his girls would take care of Siegelman."

On October 4, 2007 Time reported that Clayton Lamar (Lanny)
Young Jr., a lobbyist and landfill developer, told a group of
prosecutors and investigators on May 8, 2002 he paid tens of
thousands of dollars in apparently illegal campaign contributions
to big names in Alabama Republican politics. Young said that
among the receivers of the contributions were Jeff Sessions, the

    Toby Roth

Toby Roth served Alabama Governor Bob Riley as chief of staff,

Democratically held Alabama court to a Republican held court.
Roth is also one of an entire platoon* of Riley staffers who
departed in order to take up work for Indian gaming interests.

    U.S. Rep. Terry Everett (AL-R)
US Rep for the Second Congressional District in Southeast Alabama for
    16 years

Everett figures in the Siegelman case because of his
relationship to Judge Everett Fuller (thus the middle name), the
Siegelman judge. Everett used his position and influence in
Congress to benefit Judge Fuller's military contracting
companies, making Fuller a very wealthy man.

    Terry Butts
Attorney for Bob Riley and Scrushy

Terry Butts, a former Democratic state appeals court judge and
lawyer for Bob Riley, was one of several lawyers who also
represented Scrushy last year. Simpson swore that Butts was
party to the conference call discussing how to "take care of"
Siegelman. She believed that Terry Butts had a conflict of
interest in representing Scrushy and prevented Scrushy from
    having fair legal representation. [end]
