Former Gov. Don Siegelman is at a federal prison transfer center in
Oklahoma, prison officials and online records confirm.
Earlier, a system spokeswoman said he was being held at a
correctional complex in Louisiana.
Siegelman is at the Federal Transfer Center at Will Rogers World
Airport in Oklahoma City, prison officials and online records show.
Officials will not say where Siegelman will ultimately be held.
Siegelman had been at the federal prison in Atlanta since being
sentenced June 28.

Scrushy Attorneys Ask 11th Circuit for Subpoenas
Reported by Helen Hammons of WSFA TV Montgomery
ATLANTA -- Attorneys for businessman Richard Scrushy have filed a
"time sensitive motion" with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals asking
for subpoenas to preserve evidence.
"in order to preserve documentary evidence which may be lost or
destroyed, which the district court has refused to preserve despite
numerous requests. The documentary evidence is necessary to
determine if alleged e-mails between deliberating jurors in this case
are either authentic or fraudulent."
Assistant United States Attorney Steve Feaga says the government
has "no comment" on Scrushy's motion but has been given until
Wednesday, July 18, to respond.
No court has ever asked a single juror if these e-mails are real or
fraudulent. Defendant respectfully asks that this Court step in at this
juncture and exercise its authority pursuant to Fed. R. Crim. P. 17(c)
and/or the All Writs Act, 28 U.S.C. § 1651, to, at a very minimum,
secure and obtain the evidence that is necessary for this Court to
determine if the jury in this case was exposed to extrinsic evidence.

Judge plans to dismiss perjury counts against
Scrushy
Posted by Matt Lubniewski of Jurist Legal News
A federal judge in Alabama indicated Tuesday that she would throw
out three perjury counts against former HealthSouth CEO Richard
Scrushy but that she would allow his trial to proceed on additional
charges. District Judge Karon Bowdre indicated that she would grant
a defense motion to bar jurors from hearing evidence about
Scrushy's sworn statements to an SEC investigator, telling jurors they
would have "three fewer charges to deal with." A written order is
expected later this week. Scrushy still must face charges of
conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice and false
corporate reporting. This is the first case of a CEO being accused of
violating the Sarbanes-Oxley Act [bill text, PDF], passed in 2002 in
response to well-publicized corporate fraud scandals. Even without
the perjury charges, Scrushy could still receive a life sentence and
be ordered to pay fines up to $278 million if convicted. AP has more.
The Northern District of Alabama has additional information about the
trial.
