It appears the prosecution of Siegelman may be steered by top GOP's
and they are going for the juggler.

Mr. Canary also reportedly said that he had worked it out with Karl Rove,
political adviser to President Bush, and that Mr. Rove had spoken with
the Justice Department, which was already pursuing Mr. Siegelman.
Later, Mr. Siegelman was prosecuted and convicted of bribery,
conspiracy, mail fraud and obstruction of justice.
But the conversation does raise questions that deserve further attention
— especially in light of current events in Washington. Congress is
looking into suspicions that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales fired
some U.S. Attorneys for failing to help Republicans get elected by
prosecuting Democrats.
